Special Operations Team

Special Operations Team Overview

The Special Operations Team is comprised of Officers that have received advanced training in:

  • Active shooter response
  • Fugitive apprehension
  • High-risk building entry
  • Narcotic search warrants
  • Unknown risk entries

Tools & Weapons

The team also utilizes tools and weapons not commonly carried during routine patrol such as:

  • Ballistic blankets
  • Distraction devices
  • Door breaching equipment
  • Self-contained breathing apparatus

  2. Qualifications

Officer applying for the special operations team must meet the following conditions:

  • Must have at least one year law enforcement experience and be on permanent status (not on probationary status).A candidate may go through the qualifications of the SOT prior to their one-year anniversary date; however, they cannot become a member until the one-year has elapsed.
  • Must not have had any disciplinary action against them in the previous 12 month period
  • Must submit his/her name to the team leader to be scheduled for the qualification exercises
