The City of Beaufort expects to have the Comprehensive Plan 2021 approved this fall. Here are the steps:
July 13 – Present working outline of comprehensive plan to City Council at Work Session and to staff (hard copy and Dropbox link)
July 14 – Post working outline of comprehensive plan on city website; notify media; notify Metropolitan Planning Commission, Town of Port Royal, Beaufort County, Beaufort Jasper Water Sewer Authority, Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce, Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Merchants Association, Greater Beaufort-Port Royal Convention & Visitors Bureau, Beaufort Jasper County Realtors, Historic Beaufort Foundation, Beaufort County Historical Society, Coastal Conservation League, Sea Island Corridor Coalition, Lady's Island Business Professionals Association, and Neighborhood Association.
July 14 through Sept. 7 – Public will be able to electronically submit comments.
July 30 – Send and post Priority Investment Element.
Aug. 10 – Hold in-person public session 5-7 p.m.
Aug. 12 – Hold in-person, public sessions: 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.
Aug. 16 through Sept. 7 – Conduct stakeholder meetings.
Sept. 7 – Close electronic public comment for the comprehensive plan.
Sept. 7 – Announce final schedule at Neighborhood meeting.
Sept. 14 – Present list of stakeholders interviewed at City Council Work Session.
Nov. 9 – Public hearing on proposed comprehensive plan at City Council Regular Meeting.
Nov. 15 – Present draft-final of the comprehensive plan to the MPC.
Nov. 30 – Present draft-final of the comprehensive plan to council at Work Session.
Dec. 1-7 – Incorporate final revisions.
Dec. 14 – Present final comprehensive plan to council for approval -- first reading.
