Today’s update from Gov. McMaster:
Beginning Monday, May 11, restaurants can provide inside service at 50% occupancy. Guidance for restaurants regarding social distancing, sanitation, etc., can be found at the state’s https://accelerate.sc.gov. Tables must be spaced 6-8 feet apart, and no more than 8 people can be seated at a table.
He lifted remaining restrictions on boating, and cautioned that anyone who provides any threat to public safety can be arrested.
He said he would address the reopening of ’close contact’ businesses -- salons, barbershops, gyms -- on Monday.
Dr. Linda Bell of DHEC said that the state plans to test 2% of the state’s population per month -- approximately 110,000 people -- beginning on Monday with testing being conducted at 74 of the state’s 194 nursing homes.
Other initial testing will focus on rural and minority communities, as well as mass testing in urban areas. Information on testing sites can be found at AccelerateSC.
Today’s numbers: 7,367 positive cases of Covid in SC; 320 deaths. Beaufort County: 273 cases, 12 deaths.
