Dear Residents:
Given an anticipated above-average hurricane season, improvements to the storm drainage in the Broad Street neighborhood and specifically on Lawton Farm Lane will begin in earnest on Tuesday morning, Sept. 1. Work will begin in the vicinity of Lawton Farm Lane and the Southside Boulevard entrance and proceed west. As part of the improvement, all trees and vegetation impeding the planned stormwater pipe will be removed. Tree and vegetation removal should take about a week to compete. Soon after that is completed, the drainage ditch will be graded and drainage pipe will be installed.
The Mossy Oaks Project respectfully requests that residents with homes on Lawton Farm Lane park their vehicles on Broad Street while vegetation and tree removal is in progress. While access to your property is not anticipated, there will be heavy machinery and workers in your area. Please exercise caution when navigating the area.
The Mossy Oaks Project team deeply appreciates your patience and understanding as these long-needed improvements are made. These improvements, while somewhat disruptive in the short term, will significantly improve the quality of life, in the long term, for those affected by repeated flooding. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the on-site inspector, Al Tempest, or Neal Pugliese directly at npugliese@cityofbeaufort.org or 714-357-0811 and we will do our very best to address your issues as rapidly as possible.
