BEAUFORT, S.C. (Dec. 17, 2020) – At its Dec. 14 meeting, the Metropolitan Planning Commission approved the Whitehall Development Group’s subdivision sketch plan for a mixed-use development next to Whitehall Park on Lady’s Island.
The sketch lays out the lots, open space, and streets, which can provide for eight townhomes, 16 single-family homes, three larger river homes, four garden cottages, and three mixed-use buildings on 10 acres.
According to David Prichard, Director of Beaufort’s Community & Economic Development Department, the next steps include the Whitehall Development Group’s submission of a preliminary plat to the City’s Technical Review Committee. After the preliminary plat is approved, the development group can submit infrastructure construction documents (roads, stormwater conveyances, water and sewer line, and other utility lines) for approval by the Technical Review Committee.
Once approved, project permits for that work can be issued, he said. After all infrastructure is constructed to specifications or bonded, Whitehall Development Group can submit a final subdivision plat for approval by City staff. After the final plat is approved, it can be recorded with Beaufort County Register of Deeds. At that point, the lots may be sold.
