Feb. 26, 2021
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Please see the maps below that detail the Dominion Energy tree-trimming project from Feb. 26 to March 5.
We are very happy to report that the project is substantially complete. In the next two weeks, Dominion Energy will be working closely with contractors to complete punch-list items and detail work.
Arborists Will Epting of Dominion and Michael Murphy, retained by the City, continue to work closely together to ensure the quality of the work. Punch-list and detail work is not expected on the weekends, contingent on the weather. Of note, three arborists from Dominion are in the process of surveying the entire area with the goal of identifying spots that require remediation or rework. Murphy is conducting his own review. Both reviews will be reconciled to ensure all outstanding issues are addressed.
While all major pruning has been completed, Dominion will be removing selected palmetto trees if they come in contact with the powerlines, and only after being individually assessed by an arborist. Dominion Energy will visit each residence where a palmetto removal is necessary. Please remember that Dominion will remove only those palmettos that threaten energy delivery or pose a threat to life and property.
Safety!
We have enjoyed another week of perfect safety. Safety is the No. 1 concern for both the City of Beaufort and Dominion Energy! We respectfully request all pedestrians to remain safely away from the work areas. There will certainly be fewer crews in the area completing punch-list and detail work items, but please give these workers a wide berth. They are focused on their finishing work and not necessarily on the road or pedestrians. Also remember that if you cannot see tree trimmers, they cannot see you.
