[ARCHIVED] City of Beaufort wins budget award

BEAUFORT, S.C. (March 11, 2021) –  The City of Beaufort has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fourth consecutive year.

The award reflects the commitment of the City and its Finance Department staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive this award the City must meet national guidelines for effective budget presentation. This includes a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. The guidelines ensure that a government’s budget is transparent and accessible to the public.

“We’re delighted to receive this award,” said Finance Director Kathy Todd. “Our small staff is committed to best practices in governmental budgeting and transparency to our constituents.”

More than 1,600 entities participated in the GFOA program.

The City’s Financial Transparency explainer page and budget can be found here.
