[ARCHIVED] How you can help support Burned Children's Fund at Water Festival

Trailer for funBEAUFORT, S.C. -- The City of Beaufort/Town of Port Royal Fire Department and the Beaufort Water Festival have teamed up for a good cause. During the Water Festival, which runs from July 16-25, when you bring your empty aluminum can to a designated station at Waterfront Park, you will get a free ticket to use toward your next beverage.

The aluminum can donations benefit Camp ‘Can’ Do, a camp designed for children suffering from burn injuries. The specialty camp is held at Camp St. Christopher on Seabrook Island in Charleston.

Proceeds from the cans, which will be brought to a recycling scrap yard, will be donated to the MUSC Burned Children’s Fund.

“We are so thankful for this partnership," said Assistant Fire Chief Ross Vezin. "It costs approximately $500 per child to send to camp each year. By having this partnership with the Beaufort Water Festival, we hope to send at least two children to camp next year.” Vezin is president of the MUSC Burned Children’s Fund.
