[ARCHIVED] City selects new finance director

Alan Eisenman_Dec21

BEAUFORT, S.C. (Dec. 29, 2021) –  The City of Beaufort has selected Alan Eisenman as its next finance director. Eisenman, who has worked for the City’s Finance Department as a senior accountant since January 2016, will succeed Kathy Todd, who is retiring at the end of February.

“Alan has the experience and demonstrated the good judgment we need in this important position,” said City Manager Bill Prokop. “I am confident we will see a smooth transition from Kathy to Alan.”

Eisenman said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Finance Department and look forward to continuing the financial excellence that the City has experienced over the years.”

Eisenman graduated from Wofford College with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting in 2005. He earned a Master’s in accountancy in 2006 from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He is a certified public accountant.

Since he has been with the City, Eisenman has developed the annual budget document, which has received repeated awards from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). He has ensured the proper accounting and reporting of payroll procedures, and has also ensured proper and timely reporting and drawdowns of federal and state grant funds.

Before coming to the City, Eisenman worked for Beaufort County for several years as a financial supervisor. He is licensed as a certified government finance officer through the South Carolina GFOA. He graduated from Leadership Beaufort in 2018, and is a member of the Lowcountry Jaycees.

Kathy Todd, who is retiring, has been finance director for the City since 2010. “The City has made a great decision in choosing Alan as my successor,” she said. “As I take the next steps in life’s journey, the City will be in good hands.”

There were 5 finalists for the position. The Finance Department oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable,  business license activity, information technology, payroll, and procurement.
