Mossy Oaks Stormwater Project Updates

Posted on: January 29, 2021

[ARCHIVED] Mossy Oaks update through Feb. 5

Jan. 29, 2021

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Please see the two attachments that detail work in the following week in Basin 1 (vicinity of the Duck Pond) and Basin 2 (vicinity of Southside Park).

Basin 1

Despite another week of rain and colder weather, progress continues at a nice clip. As of the writing of this report, concrete is being poured to form finished sidewalks in and around Battery Creek Road. About 600 feet of the Spanish Moss Trail has been replaced with fresh concrete. Crews will work this weekend on the Spanish Moss Trail to install the forms to prepare the trail for the final concrete pours. About two more days of concrete work remain in this basin between Battery Creek Road and the Spanish Moss Trail. The project and BJWSA discovered a minor sewer issue in the vicinity of 810 Battery Creek Road. This will be fixed before supporting drainpipes are installed between the homes from North Royal Oaks and Battery Creek Road.

Basin 1 thru Feb 5

Basin 2

All but a few minor issues have been completed on Lawton Farms Road, as promised. With regard to the Spanish Moss Trail between Riverside Drive and Brotherhood Lane, all three headwalls have been installed along with the first set of 60-inch drainpipes. Weather contingent, all drainage in Basin 2 and along this segment of the Spanish Moss Trail will be completed in the next 10 days or so. Following the installation of the tidal flap gates, the SMT will be repaved and opened.

Basin 2 thru Feb. 5

Safety!

We’ve had another perfect week of safety. Thanks to all who have worked so hard to ensure we maintain a safe environment.

Stay informed

I’m available anytime to address your questions comments or concerns. No issue is too big or too small, so please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime. This project is rapidly nearing successful completion, on schedule and on budget.
