An introduction to our GIS portal
You're about to find a new world of information at your fingertips with the addition of the City of Beaufort's GIS application.
GIS means Geographic Information System, and simply put, this allows you to engage in interactive mapping and analysis. Let's say, for example, you're not exactly sure if you live within City of Beaufort boundaries, or are in one of the "donut holes" sprinkled throughout the City. Our map, "Am I In The City of Beaufort?" will answer that for you.
A tip: To use these maps properly, you need to click on the Layers tab at the top right of the map, underneath the search magnifying glass. As you click on the various layers, you'll see new information populate the maps.
An FAQ on this page, at right, also explains more about GIS.
Whether you want to take a closer look at the Beaufort Landmark Historic District, a land-use map, or to check on your polling location --- all that is accessible through our GIS system. Our GIS Gallery will be continually updated as new maps are added.
